Each and every CHAMPS season is the result of the hard work of many dedicated teacher-coaches. This season, CHAMPS recognizes the excellent work of teacher-coach Barbara Palmer-Greene, from M.S. 302, in the Bronx, for her commitment to creating additional opportunities in which students can practice skills they learned during their time at CHAMPS.
This past fall season, Barbara played an instrumental role in the organization and success of the Hispanic Heritage Month NFL “Play 60” Flag Football event, which drew over 80 student-athletes. This winter, her school joined the growing list of schools hosting CHAMPS volleyball events. On January 22 and March 5, MS 302 hosted 400 CHAMPS volleyball players from 30 schools from across the city.
Barbara has taught health and physical education in the Bronx for 18 years. She has been a CHAMPS coach since 2007; teaching flag football, basketball, fitness and volleyball. Barbara is known for encouraging students to reach their full potential. Some of her students have gone on to play in high school leagues and have been recruited by college teams.
Thank you, Barbara, for your hard work!
