GRANT OPPORTUNITIES
The New York City School Library System is proud to present the New Yorkers Read Grant available for public and non-public K-12 school libraries.  To learn more about this
award-winning grant and for an application, please visit the New Yorkers Read Wiki at http://newyorkersread.wikispaces.com

The New York City School Library System is currently looking to expand the Cooperative Collection Development (CCD) program.  If you are interested in a CCD collection for your school library, are a certified school librarian, have an automated library catalog, and interested in becoming a subject expert, please consider applying for a CCD grant.  Applications are available on the CCD Wiki at
http://nyc-ccd.wikispaces.com/ .

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES
The Office of Library Services is offering a four-session Common Core Professional Development Series this coming Spring.

The sessions are as follows:
Session 1:  The Common Core and Information Fluency Continuum Alignment
Session 2:  School Libraries and the Common Core State Standards:
Planning a Unit to meet the NYC DOE Citywide Instructional Expectations
Session 3:  School Libraries and the Common Core State Standards:  Planning Instruction
Session 4:  Text Exemplars and the School Librarian

These sessions work best as a group of workshops taken in sequential order.  As such, we are requiring attendance at all four workshops.  Because none of the sessions are stand-alone, you will not be able to register for one workshop and not the others.

Weekday sessions are:
Session 1 - Fri.  3/16/12
Session 2 - Thurs.  3/29/12
Session 3 - Tue.  4/24/12
Session 4 - Tue.  5/8/12

Saturday sessions are:
Session 1 - 3/17/12
Session 2 - 3/31/12
Session 3 - 4/21/12
Session 4 - 5/12/12

Registration is now open through Protraxx at
http://pd.nycoit.org .   Locations are yet to be determined.  In the interest of general convenience, they will more than likely be in Manhattan.

If you have any questions, please contact Library Services at libraries@schools.nyc.gov.
