In New York City, we’ve tripled the number of children in free, full-day, high-quality pre-K, growing to around 70,000 students. Now, we’re doing even more.
3-K for All brings free, full-day, high-quality education to 3-year-olds in New York City. 3-K programs lay a critical foundation for children to grow, learn, and explore the world around them.
We will begin the path to 3-K for All in School Districts 7 (South Bronx) and 23 (Brownsville, East New York, Ocean Hill) with the goal to bring 3-K to every community school district in New York City.

There are three types of 3-K program options:
All families who applied to 3-K by the July 14 deadline will get their results letter in late July. If you get a 3-K for All offer, you can accept by calling 718-935-2009. Please have your offer letter available when you call.Some new programs will continue to be added for the 2017-2018 school year. If you missed the deadline to apply or do not get an offer, check 3-K Finder to see if there are new programs options. The Early Learn 3s Finder may have additional program options that have income eligibility requirements. Contact programs of interest directly to see if there are available seats and call 718-935-2009 if you have any questions.
EarlyLearn NYC offers full-day, full-year early education programming for children from six weeks through four years old. If you are interested in 3-K for All, you should also consider an EarlyLearn NYC program for your child. Find an EarlyLearn NYC program near you.
You can still apply for a 3-K program in Districts 7 and 23. Early education for 3-year-olds is already available citywide through the EarlyLearn program. You can use the EarlyLearn Finder to locate programs close to you.
All children born in 2014 and residing in New York City are eligible for 3-K for All. Early education for children from six weeks old through pre-K is already available citywide through the EarlyLearn program. Contact programs of interest directly to see if seats are available, and use this tool to find out if your child might be eligible for an EarlyLearn NYC program.

No, your child's program will remain the same and you do not have to take any action.
We are building a strong foundation with 3-K for All, which will strengthen the work we are already doing in these two districts to support students from birth through college. Universal supports already in place include Pre-K for All, Universal Literacy, College Access-Middle School, and Single Shepherd.
Starting in fall 2018, the DOE will offer new programs in 2 additional school districts each year until 2020, for a total of 8 districts. Though we have selected Districts 7 and 23 for the first year, the other six districts have not yet been selected. Our goal is to bring 3-K to all school districts citywide. This will require partnership from the state and federal government. DOE will share more information as soon as possible.
3-K for All will be available to all children, regardless of immigration status. Existing EarlyLearn programs will continue to have the same eligibility criteria, including requirements regarding immigration status. Any questions you may have regarding eligibility criteria can be answered by EarlyLearn programs.
