Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this letter finds you well. My name is Schwanna Ellman and it is my sincere pleasure and honor to have been chosen as the new leader of The Jackie Robinson School- PS 375. We have an entire school year to get to know each other. However let me tell you just a little bit about me.
My education career began almost 11 years ago. I started out as a long term substitute teacher for students with disabilities. However, my official career began when I taught fifth grade for five years. I then served as the Math Coach for two years before I began my administrative career as a Principal Intern. Once I completed my internship I moved into an administrator position as a Senior Measure of Student Learning Implementation Specialist. All of the schools I have worked have been Pre-K to Grade 5 so I am very knowledgeable about the developmental needs of students at the elementary level.
In addition to dedicating my life to education, I have adult twin boys and two granddaughters the eldest who will be entering Pre-K next year. Being an educator, I am always thinking about how my own children experienced and how my grandchildren will experience school. I know that this is on all of your minds as you send your children off to school each day. As your new leader, my goal is that the staff will provide your children with the same education I expect for my own granddaughters. I know this will be attainable because we have such a hardworking dedicated staff.
I would like to invite you to monthly “Tea Time with the Principal” which will be held the first Thursday of the month. At these meetings, I will share with you the State of the School and engage in a dialogue with you about your hopes and dreams for The Jackie Robinson School. Together, we will shape the vision on the path to educational excellence.
I am thrilled to be part of this community. I look forward to our work together. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. My door is always open. You can rest assured that I will do everything in my power to Deliver the Promise of Education!
Yours in Education,
