PS/IS 18 is committed to providing quality education to all students by meeting their intellectual, social and emotional needs and working diligently to implement a high academic standards-based curriculum. The school is dedicated to utilizing the resources of our parents, professionals and the community to create lifelong learners in an environment that will foster and challenge ever growing minds.


La  EP/EI18M está comprometida a proveer una educación de calidad para todos los estudiantes, incluyendo los estudiantes bilingües y de educación especial, reuniendo sus necesidades intelectuales, sociales, y emocionales, y trabajando diligentemente para implementar una enseñanza superior basada en los estándares del currículo. Estamos dedicados a utilizar los recursos de nuestros padres, profesionales y comunidad, para crear aprendices para toda la vida en un ambiente que promueve y desafía  la intelectualidad de nuestras mentes.


The Dual Language Program is designed to develop second language skills for our English dominant and Spanish dominant population in grades K through 8th. Passport to Reading/Voyager and Reading Reform programs are used to address the remedial literacy needs of our students.  PS/IS 18 has also put in place a one to one tutoring program.

El Programa de Ambos Idiomas está diseñado para desarrollar  destrezas en el segundo idioma para nuestros estudiantes  de los grados del K al 8vo grado dominantes en el inglés y dominantes en el español. Los programas Pasaporte a la Lectura/Viajero y Reforma de la Lectura son utilizados para remediar las necesidades de la lectura y la escritura de nuestros estudiantes. La EP/EI 18 también ha establecido un programa de tutoría de uno a uno.


Our after school program includes a musical theater group, peer leadership training, recreational basketball, choir, band, guitar club, dance and movement, a life skills program, a drama club and a documentary club (film making).

PS/IS 18 has made a significant outreach to the community in order to provide our students with additional resources and opportunities. These include: LINC (peer tutoring program); NY Public Library; NYC School Volunteers training program and Inwood House, Washington Heights Coalition, Program SES Services: Princeton Review, Failure Free (Reading and Math) and Leadership Learning Lab and NYCLA, Conflict Resolution (Peer Mediation training), Ballroom Dancing, Green Apple Corps, Parks and Recreation Department, Audubon Food Pantry, TASC Masters of Literacy, NYU Child Study Center, Higher Education Collaboration with Hunter College, Touro College and Mercy College.
Our multicultural school community is a school where all members, students, staff and parents collaborate with each other, creating a culture where social, emotional and physical development needs of all students are as important as high academic expectations.  Skills, such as reading, writing, listening and speaking are integrated into all curriculum areas including the arts and technology, enabling our students to become lifelong learners and problem solvers through developmentally appropriate instruction. 

Nuestra   escuela  multicultural en  la comunidad es una escuela donde todos los miembros, estudiantes, facultad y padres colaboran los unos con los otros, creando una cultura donde todas las necesidades del desarrollo social, emocional y físico de todos los estudiantes son tan importantes como las altas expectativas  académicas. Destrezas, así como la lectura, la escritura, la audición, y verbal son integradas en todas las áreas del currículo incluyendo el arte y la tecnología, permitiendo a nuestros estudiantes llegar a ser aprendices de toda la vida y resolver problemas a través del desarrollo de una instrucción apropiada.
