Welcome to our school

Our vision at the Secondary School for journalism is to develop visional problem solvers who will be able to strategically use their critical thinking, creativity, collaborative skills, and communications expertise to challenge the norms of society in order to lead and improve the lives of their fellow citizens.

Our mission at the Secondary School for Journalism is to provide a comprehensive college preparatory and career exploration program for all students will take ownership and responsibility for the learning process through inquiry into a broad spectrum of educational strategies emphasizing hands-on discovery and interdisciplinary project-based learning experiences through the multi-faceted aspects of journalism.

Special Programs

ELECTIVES: Digital Documentary, Newspaper, Digital Art,  Astronomy, Technology, Chess,Avid,  Creative Writing.

AVID. Our school is a nationally certified AVID school. It is a college preparatory program leading to a rigorous academic program, available to interested and eligible 10th, and 11th graders.

ADVANCED PLACEMENT: Available in History, English, Math. and NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

B.R.I.C: Presenting contemporary art, performing art and community through media
