The Department of Education has developed guides for each grade, K-8, entitled "Great Expectations, Partnering for your child's future," describing what children should know by the end of each school year. The guides lay out in parent-friendly language the major elements of what children are learning--particularly in language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies, which are the focus of these guides.
