News and Announcements

  • Due to our increased amount of ELL population in our school ( 250 Plus students) we have restructured our organization to fit the needs of this special population. We had the ability once prior staff resigned, to hire staff that held a Bilingual and ESL license. We have increased our Bilingual classes from 2- 5, ESL classes from 2-6, totaling from ELL classes 4- 11.
  • We received a $20,000 grant to expand out Bilingual Program in Chinese and Spanish and to open up a new class ratio from 8:1 and 6:1.
  • We have provided all new ELL teachers Professional Development , both in house and through District support (Ms. Fanny Castro).
  • We provide Title III program for our ELL parents and children.
  • We purchased NYSELAT student review books in preparation for NYSELAT tests . This was identified by teachers teaching students how to take a test and saw an increase in DATA because of this.
  • Multi Cultural Events are provided by Parent Coordinator and PA committee to involve parental participation for the ELL population.
  • To support our increase autism population, we hired our own in School Coach. Professional Development is also provided by District Autism coaches.
  • We hired a total of 15 new teachers, and provide ongoing professional development (from in school teaching staff and the District 75 coaches) in the areas of Post Secondary outcomes , IEP training and  Transitional planning.
  • Champs after school program is in place to provide additional social skills to our staff.
  • We continue to participate in District 75 Rowing Program.
  • We hired a new Library Teacher, (Ms. Elias)for the 2012- 2013 school year.
  • We were the only school in District 75 that received $10,000 in REACH LIBRARY grant to fix up our Library.
  • Teacher of Social Studies, (Ms. Romanini)was awarded a laptop, camera and Software from Samsung, “Solve for Tomorrow Technology Grant” and came in 25 for the entire United States.
  • All of our students participate in Mighty Milers, to promote Healthy Living. 
  • Opened up a Sensory Room from Donations from Kennedy Family and Community sponsors.
