Manhattan Village Academy

Admissions Update-AS OF NOVEMBER 17TH, 2014


Manhattan Village Academy, a screened high school, is updating its admissions criteria to make sure that all information is consistent with the High School Directory.


Manhattan Village Academy will be looking at the following criteria from all applicants:


·        Excellent Junior High School attendance and lateness

 ·        Open House Attendance (strong consideration granted to those who attended)

 ·        Junior High School Grades:  English (80-100), Math (80-100), Science (80-100), Social Studies (80-100)

 ·        Standardized Test Scores:  Math Levels:  2-4, English Language Arts Levels:  2-4


Due to a personnel shortage, interviews will not be conducted.  

And, as per the D.O.E.’s policy of keeping consistent with our Directory Page, no materials have to be brought in or mailed to our school. Please do not send in a portfolio of work and do not worry about putting together any materials as listed on the Open House literature.  

 As written in the Directory, we still will give consideration to the students who attended the Open Houses.

 Even if students did not attend Open Houses, they are encouraged to still apply to Manhattan Village Academy, and, their applications will also be reviewed.  

Manhattan Village Academy’s Open House dates are as follows:


·        Thursday, October 9th, 2014

 ·        Wednesday, October 29th, 2014

 ·        Saturday, November 8th, 2014

 ·        Friday, November 14th, 2014


All of the Open Houses start at 6:00 PM, except for the Open House on Saturday, November 8th, which starts at 11:00 A.M.

Students must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.

No student will be allowed entry if they arrive by themselves.

 MVA is a small school with a limited capacity for visitors.  Only the first 200 attending each Open House will be able to enter the building.

Manhattan Village Academy is a screened school.  Information about requirements for Admissions and the Interview will be given at the Open Houses (listed above) and if possible, at the City-Wide and Borough of Manhattan High School Fairs.
