Dear Parents and Guardians:

On behalf of the Goldie Maple Academy staff, welcome to the new school year 2015-2016.  This is going to be another exciting year filled with academically challenging and enriching activities.  I hope that it will also be an enjoyable experience.  In order to get the year started on the right note, I just wanted to inform you of a few changes for this year and remind you of our existing procedures.  Firstly, please note that the new school hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:35 p.m.Monday – Friday.  The first day of school is Tuesday, September 08, 2015.

Please ensure that your child returns the Summer Packet to the teachers on the first day, as this will be the first grade they will receive for the marking period.

With regard to arrival procedures, students (except for Pre-k) should enter through the cafeteria entrance on Beach 56th Street between 7:25 a.m. and 7:55 a.m.  Please do not leave your child unsupervised before 7:25 a.m. After 8:00 a.m., the Beach 56th entrance will be closed and students arriving after this time must enter through the mainentrance on Beach 57th Street.

Please note that breakfast is served between  7:30 a.m. and 7:55 a.m. ONLY. Any child arriving on the bus (private or city) should be fed at home to ensure they have a healthy breakfast before instruction.  Parents of Kindergarten students will be allowed to remain with their children during breakfast for the first two days of school ONLY.  No other parents will be allowed to remain in the cafeteria during breakfast.  All pre-k students eat breakfast in the classroom with their teachers throughout the school year.Prekindergarten parents will be permitted to stay with their child until 9:00a.m.

As always, I rely on your cooperationin adhering to these procedures for a smooth transition into this new school year.

Yours truly,
Angela Logan-Smith
