Pre-Kindergarten

Round 2 of Pre-K Admissions begins Monday, May 2
—and all New York City families with a child born in 2012 can apply!

Round 2 program options will include:
  • Newly awarded pre-K programs that were not available during the Main Round.
  • Programs from the Main Round with available seats for more students.

A list of these programs will be posted to the pre-K website on May 2, and you can always find the latest program information in Pre-K Finder.

If you applied for pre-K in the Main Round, you will get your offer letter next week. You can accept your offer and still choose to apply in Round 2 - it will not affect your Main Round offer.

Call 718-935-2009 with questions.

If your child is of age to begin Pre-K in the fall of 2016, you can apply to Pre-K three different ways:
  • Online at nyc.gov/prek (available 24 hours a day)
  • Over the phone by calling 718-935-2067 (8am-6pm, Mon-Fri)
  • In person at a Family Welcome Center (8am-3pm, Mon-Fri); for locations, visit nyc.gov/schools/welcomecenters

Middle School Admissions

Middle School acceptance letters have been distributed to all graduating 5th grade students. The appeal round is now open until May 4th. Please submit any appeal requests to your school by May 4th!

The middle school application period for the 2016-2017 school year is now closed. If you submitted an application, you should have received an application receipt.

Some middle school programs require next steps:

  • Screened schools that use an audition or test to evaluate students will reach out to applicants who meet their criteria over the winter to invite them to come in for an assessment.
  • Your elementary school will distribute test tickets to students who submitted a Request for Testing (RFT) for I.S. 239 Mark Twain in December. Test tickets will be mailed to private school students.
  • You will receive an application in February 2016 for any new middle school opening in your district. You do not have to apply if you are not interested.

Your current school will distribute middle school admissions results letters, including any new school match, in late April 2016.
