Our History

August Martin High School is a magnet high school for Aviation,
named after the first African American pilot to fly for a commercial
    airline.

August Martin High School opened in September 1971, as one of the
original educational options schools, to provide a very demanding
and challenging program.  The school was created through the
cooperative efforts of the Board of Education, community leaders,
the aviation industry, and union representatives.  We have now
turned into a "small learning community" school. Students apply to
one of five academies: Aerospace & Technology, Communication
Arts, Medical Technologies, Culinary Arts, and Business & Law.
