Charles Darwin once said "A mathematician is a blind man in a dark room looking for a black cat which isn't there." If that's how mathematicians perceive mathematics, imagine how their students feel! To many, math is a dry and difficult subject, an unfortunate consequence of the all-too-common approach of teaching math in isolation of concrete applications in the real world. At MHSHS, the math department seeks to help students develop and strengthen their skills incrementally through a variety of techniques, as well as to show students how mathematics is an integral part of every-day life.

Below is a list of syllabuses for the classes offered in the Fall of 2007 and the Spring of 2008. Teachers may, at their discretion, choose to change the order in which certain topics are presented.
