  • Our Mission
To help our students develop to their maximum potential and functional levels by providing them with essential, social, emotional, and academic skills. Our program seeks to accomplish this goal by creating a nurturing environment that is physically and emotionally receptive to the needs of our students and their families. We use a cooperative, multi-sensory approach involving age appropriate, individualized instruction. We also believe in shared decision making that involves integrating the families and community of children in our school in the development of harmonious, cooperative and respectful policies that directly affect them.
  • Special Programs
Our school population is severely disabled ages 11-21 years old (grades 6-12). We have annexes at IS 24, New Dorp High School and IS 43 and inclusion opportunities at  IS 24, Tottenville High School, McKee and New Dorp High School. We have work-study opportunities for students 17-21.
  • Extracurricular Activities
Team sports, Scouting for the disabled, and Chorus.

  • Our Community
Our school is located in Stapleton, S.I. Our school is very involved in our community. The South Shore Rotary and local businesses work closely to give our students special assembly in December, food baskets for the holidays and a Senior Prom. Our students collect pennies for Penny Harvest, Money for Breast Cancer Research, Food for the Homeless, etc. We decorate local businesses with our art.
