Arrival, Dismissal, Absence, Early Pick-up, Late Pick-up
This letter outlines the times and procedures that will be in place for the 2012-2013 school term. It has been established to provide for the safety and well-being of our children. Please keep it for reference purposes.
Breakfast Program Children may come into the building at 7:30AM for free breakfast. Children who begin their day at 8:02AM will leave the cafeteria at 7:55AM. 8:40AM children will leave the cafeteria at 8:30AM. Please allow enough time for your child to eat.
Pre-Kindergarten Session Times~Monday through Friday
AM Session 8:40 AM ~ 11:00 AM PM Session 12:40 PM ~ 3:00 PM
Pre-K students have their own entrance to the building. It is the entrance near the playground.
AM students enter the building @ 8:30. PM students enter the building @12:35
The children are released directly and only to adults who are listed on the Emergency Card.

Special notes about arrival to school:
NO CHILD MAY COME TO THE BUILDING EARLIER THAN THE PROGRAM THEY ARE ARRIVING FOR.
(E.G.; BREAKFAST, VIOLIN, EARLY BIRD PROGRAM) This is a safety plan mandate.
Supervision for students in Grades K-5 who begin at 8:02, and who are not participating in the breakfast program, begins 10 minutes prior to the start of their school day, at 7:50. They enter through the main lobby and go directly into the auditorium. Teachers will pick up students from the auditorium.
Supervision for students in Grades 1-5 who begin at 8:40, and who are not participating in the breakfast program, begins 10 minutes prior to the start of their school day, at 8:30. Teachers will pick up students from either the back yard or from indoor lineup locations.
Kindergarten students who begin at 8:40 have their own entrance to the building. It is the entrance near the playground.
Dismissal Procedures for Grades K-5:
K, 1, and 2 students are released by their teacher directly and only to adults who are listed on the child’s Emergency Card or escorted to the Auditorium to wait for buses.
Grades 3, 4, & 5 students are released to the outside by their teacher or proceed to the Auditorium to wait for buses.
Absence, Late Arrival, Early pick-up & Late pick-up Policies
All children are expected to arrive on time in the morning and remain in school until their dismissal time (barring exceptional circumstances) in accordance with Department of Education Attendance Plan regulations.
Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3 of absence: Please notify the school @ (718) 423-8652 before 10:00 AM of your child’s absence. If the school does not receive a call, you will receive a call from school requesting information about your child’s absence.
AFTER THREE CONSECUTIVE DAYS OF ABSENCE FOR A MEDICAL REASON:
CHILD MUST HAVE A DOCTOR’S NOTE IN ORDER TO RETURN TO THE CLASSROOM.
AFTER THREE CONSECUTIVE DAYS OF ABSENCE FOR A NON-MEDICAL REASON:
CHILD MUST BRING IN DOCUMENTATION EXPLAINING ABSENCE (e.g.; PLANE TICKET, HOTEL RECEIPT)
If you know that your child will be missing school days, please advise the Main Office AND your child’s teacher. Please bring in documentation to support upcoming absence.
Any child arriving to the school building later than 8:50 AM must be signed in at the Security Desk in the Main Lobby. A child MAY NOT go directly to their classroom without being signed in. Your child will be marked Late on the attendance sheet for that day. You will be contacted by the Attendance Office if there is a pattern of late arrival to school as per the NYC Department of Education Attendance Plan Guidelines.
Early Pick-Up~Late Pick-Up
Children must be signed out in the log book, in the Main Office, if they are to be picked up before their scheduled dismissal time. The Attendance Office & Guidance Office will review the Sign Out Log for patterns of early pick-up that may be interrupting a child’s education. Children must be signed out in the log book, in the Main Office, if not picked up at their regular dismissal time and brought to the Main Office. Patterns of late pick up will be brought to the attention of the administration.
