Citywide Council on High Schools (CCHS)

How will parent members of the Council be selected?

For the Citywide Council on High Schools, one parent per region will be selected by the President, Secretary and Treasurer of every high school Parent and Parent-Teacher Association (PA/PTA) in the region. These three PA/PTA officers will be known as the “Parent Selectors.” There will be regional forums where the candidates for the Council on High Schools will have the opportunity to make presentations to the Parent Selectors, other parents and the community. Anyone attending these public meetings can submit written comments that will be shared with the Parent Selectors. Following these public meetings, each PA/PTA is strongly encouraged to hold membership meetings to obtain additional feedback on the candidates.

Each Parent Selector will receive a ballot with the names of all candidates in that region listed in alphabetical order. Each selector will vote for one candidate, and the nine candidates with the highest number of votes will be selected. Ballots will be submitted to an independent agent hired to manage and validate the selection process.
