Citywide Council on High Schools (CCHS)

What does a member of the Citywide Council on High Schools do?

Citywide Council on High School members represent the needs and interests of high school parents and the community-at-large in advising and commenting on educational policy involving high schools. Members of this Citywide Council receive information on matters affecting the educational and instructional policy involving high schools. They, in turn, consult with a wider community of high school parents and comment on policy. Their meetings are open to the public, and provide an opportunity for the community to be heard on educational issues.

The Citywide Council on High Schools issues an annual report on the effectiveness of public high school education in New York City, including recommendations for improvement. The Citywide Council on High Schools holds one monthly meeting where the public can discuss issues relating to high school education and also meet with PA/PTA officers at least every three months during the year.
