Employee Development for New York City Department of Education’s central administrative and managerial employees includes training and professional development offerings, citywide personnel programs, and other important information. Below is a listing of class offerings, schedules, fees, and general information about programs offered by the city, as well as external vendors.

Department of Citywide Administrative Services
The Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) is the administrative arm of New York City government. They are the entity responsible for supporting all City agencies which provide services to the public. DCAS offers training and development programs for employees on all levels. Their programs include: Management Academy, Leadership Institute, Distance Learning Programs, Mayor’s Graduate Scholarship Program and the Citywide Training Center. Mayor's Graduate Scholarship Program
The Mayor’s Graduate Scholarship Program (MGSP), a DCAS program, is an opportunity for full-time New York City government employees (employed by a City agency) with undergraduate degrees to study at accredited colleges/universities in the metropolitan area. Schools fund full or partial graduate scholarships for City government employees through the Mayor's Graduate Scholarship Program. The scholarships are for employees' study, on their own, in areas such as business and public administration, policy analysis, law, education, engineering, nursing, public health, computer science, and social work.
Application Filing Period
The filing period for the 2009-10 academic year is now open. The deadline for submitting your request for scholarship to your Agency Personnel Office is Monday, November 17, 2008. Please be advised that award decisions are made for the academic year beginning with the fall 2009 semester. The majority of the schools award scholarships for entire course of study. Please note: There will be an informational session about the MGSP held exclusively for Department of Education employees. It will be held on Thursday, October 2nd from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Brooklyn Integrated Service Center, 131 Livingston Street, room 610. Registration is required, as space is limited. Courses are offered on a first come, first served basis. As with all training initiatives, you must gain approval from your manager/supervisor prior to registering for a class.
Due to the overwhelming response for Microsoft Office training, each employee is limited to two (2) classes for this training series.
