Scrapbooking ~ Do you enjoy making collages of celebrities, friends, or family? Are you a creative person? Do you love doing arts and crafts projects? If so, the scrapbook cluster is right for you. Come have some fun and put your creativity to good use.
Fried Chicken Anyone? ~ What do you like to eat? Does it like you back? How do your eating habits affect your life? If you love food and love to eat, then this is the group for you.
Math Team ~ Can you solve brain teasers and word problems with ease? Well, if you like competition and want to flex those math muscles, join the math team!
Wanna Be a Millionaire? ~ Come join this cluster and experience the excitement of Wall Street. Create and track your stock portfolio. Compete against your peers to see who has what it takes to be a millionaire in the Stock Market Game.
Graphic Novel Artists Association ~ Are you an artist? Do you like comic books? Do you spend a lot of time creating awesome stories in your mind? If you do, then you should join the MH3 Graphic Novel Artists Association. The MH3 Graphic Novel Artists Association provides you an opportunity to explore your mind, create characters, and produce storyboards around topics YOU are interested in.
International Sports ~ Have you ever played Finnish baseball? Do you know about Russian bowling? Have you ever heard of floatball, one of the most popular sports in the world? There are many interesting and fun international sports that you may never have heard of. You could even explore sports that are a part of your culture. This is your opportunity not only to learn about the history and culture of international sports, but to also have fun playing them.
Students for Change ~ Have you ever wanted to start a revolution? Are you tired of the way things are? Come create change in Students for Change. Students will learn about the history behind nonviolent civil disobedience. Students will also organize and facilitate non-violent protests. Are you willing to fight for change without resorting to violence?
It’s Good Being Green ~ Do you enjoy being “in the know” about the latest technology, whether it be transportation, energy, communication, or entertainment, but still like being outdoors and caring for the environment? Come to this SEM cluster to explore the exciting new realm of alternative green technologies and how they give us the best of both worlds!
Worms Eat My Garbage ~ Did you know that each person throws away approximately 3 pounds of garbage every day? Are you interested in reducing that amount to make our school, community, and world a greener place? In this SEM cluster, you will be designing a project for a citywide contest focused on getting students involved in environmental issues. We will be exploring composting, recycling, and other ways to make our planet a greener place.
Life History Projects ~ Many times we are surrounded by amazingly strong, brave, and wise people, but we don’t even know because we never ask. In this SEM cluster, students will do a life history project by picking an older person from their family or community, interviewing them about their life story, and learning about history through personal stories and experiences instead of textbooks. Students will videotape interviews and create a documentary of all the interviews, and eventually present their findings of surprising and interesting stories about their family or community’s past.
Fantasy Sports Society ~ Have you ever wanted to create your own team of superstars? Do you want to be the general manager of the next sports dynasty? If so, come and select the fantasy sports team of your dreams, and dominate the competition!
Graphic Design ~ Come experience the wonderful world of color and art. You will visualize and develop skills of geometric organization. The world will be your palette. Join the fun.
Video Production ~ Do you like music videos? What about watching TV or commercials? Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes, and how your favorite show, commercial, or video is made? If so, then you will enjoy video production. We will explore how to write, produce, direct, and even film a video project of our choice.
There’s No Business Like Show Business ~ Do you have an interest in theater or acting? Do you wonder what goes on behind the scenes? We can explore ideas ranging from acting skills to directing to set design. Join this SEM cluster to discover or develop your talents in theater and the arts world.
Building a Better Mouse Trap ~ Have you ever had to use a cold toilet seat in the middle of the night? Did you think to yourself how much better your life would be if only someone had designed a heated seat? If you have an amazing product idea, this is the SEM cluster for you. Our SEM cluster will focus on product design, cost proposals, and marketing.
Young Authors Society ~ Do you love creative writing? Do you want to grow and sharpen your skills as a writer? Are you interested in joining a community of writers who will read and respond to each others’ work? Join the Young Authors Society. Together, we will brainstorm, draft, revise, and publish our creative pieces. All genres welcome – realistic fiction, fantasy, memoirs, plays, sports fiction, science fiction, poetry, and suspense.
Fundraising ~ Have you ever wanted to raise money for your school? We need students to review products, companies and programs for a schoolwide fundraiser. This fundraiser will help fund trips, parties and more. You will decide what MH3 sells, how it gets sold and will be responsible for the sale through delivery. This will be a fun, hand-on way to make a difference at MH3 – let’s see how much money we can raise as quickly as possible!
Young Botanists Society ~ Even in our urban environment, plant life is everywhere. Add a little more green to your life with the Young Botanists. Learn how to identify trees in our area, experiment with growing plants, and even create small ecosystems like terrariums and bogs. Bring your gardening gloves, and let your curiosity bloom.
