Our Community

East-Flatbush is fortunate to have I.S. 285 as a focal point for community outreach and activities. Meyer Levin has always been an integral part of the fabric of the community. CAMBA, The Church Avenue Merchants Block Association, is housed at I.S. 285. Camba has helped to institute an active student government by working with students to develop civic responsibilities. CAMBA also provides parent workshops in coordination with our Parent Association and our Parent Coordinator. The East-Flatbush Friends of Education is a community-based group that offers assistance and scholarships to 8th grade students as well as sponsoring a senior night at our spring production for community senior groups. Our steel band and chorus travel throughout the area performing for various community groups.
