Drama
The drama club provides opportunities for students to develop their acting and public speaking skills. We are currently working on our annual production of "The Wiz"
Visual Arts
Art is the process or product of deliberately arranging elements in a way that appeals to the senses or emotions, a vehicle for the expression or communication of emotions and ideas, a means for exploring and appreciating formal elements for their own sake.
Computer Technology
All students are trained to become proficient in word processing, excel, power point and web design.
Further, our students are required to engage in research based projects and presentations.
Computer Repair
Our students repair computers that are inoperable. They fix computers that belong to the school as well as many others from people in the community.
Video Technology
Students are trained to use "final cut" software to produce documentaries. They have produced DVDs featuring events from the Civil Rights era, Martin Luther King and Emmet Till
Martial Arts
Students are trained in the martial arts styles of Shotokan and Jujitsu. We have successfully competed in many tournaments in New York and the tri-state area.
African Drumming
The jembe is one of the main drums used in African culture. Our students are taught to use the jembe and the djun to play African rhythms and beats.
African Dance
Our dancers collaborate with our drummers to produce pieces that inspire and build self-esteem. They perform at functions in the school within the community and the tri-state area.
Instrumental Music
Our instrumental music class complements the drum line. Here, students are taught the rudiments of the theory and practice of instrumental music.
Drum Line
The Soul Tigers drum line targets students at risk for academic failure. They performed in Macy's Thanksgiving Parade and they have a close affiliation with Tommy Hilfiger who sponsored their uniforms.
Gospel Choir
The choir represents the finest singers & musicians from I.S. 292. They perform at churches and senior citizen homes throughout Brooklyn.
Dance
Our Dance Team is a sport as much as it is an art form. Our dancers are dependent on social, cultural, aesthetic, moral constraints. They are proficient in the various genres of dance from ballroom to contemporary.
