Coney Island Hospital at P.S.225

Coney Island Hospital School Based Program is a counseling program that services children with emotional, behavioral, and learning difficulties. These difficulties can include poor peer relations, temper outbursts, anxiety, excessive sadness, family problems, limited concentration/attention span, and hyperactivity among others. Children are primarily served during their school day at P.S. 225. Program services are available at the Coney Island Hospital Site for parental and family counseling, as well as over school vacations. Our program offers individual, group, and family therapy as needed; consultation and education for parents; crisis intervention; and behavioral health services including evaluations and medication if necessary. We do accept most insurance plans as payment and offer assistance in helping families to obtain health insurance. Please contact staff therapist Sarah Altschuler, LMSW, for more information. Sarah can be reached in room 106 at P.S. 225, or by phone at (718) 934-6083. Parents interested in admitting their children to the Coney Island School Based Program may fill out an application in person with Sarah or by meeting with a member of P.S. 225's School Assessment Team in room 253.
