R.I.F. Audio Books
Some of our 6th Grade students will be starting a pilot program sponsored by R.I.F. and the Brooklyn Public Library in which they will receive MP3 players to download and listen to audiobooks. This is a very exciting program that we are all looking forward to. Click here for more info and some of the great books available for download.

Pennies For Patients
2008-2009 School Year
Our Pennies For Patients charity drive ran from April 27 through May 15, 2009. All money contributed went to the Youth Division of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help children who are afflicted with blood cancer. The results are now in and the IS 281 family raised $9,513.92!!! Out of over 350 NYC schools that participated this year our contribution was NUMBER 1!!! We could not be prouder of the generosity of our school community. Thanks to all students, parents and teachers who made a commitment to this worthy cause. We will certainly be having a charity drive next year so start saving those pennies (or more). 2007-2008 School Year
Our "Pennies for Patients" charity drive ran from January 28th through February 15th, 2008. Money collected went to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and specifically to help children who are afflicted with blood cancer. Cavallaro raised a total of $5,503.34! This was the fourth year in which we have participated. Cavallaro has reached as high as 2nd Place in New York City and we are looking for 1st this year! Thanks to all who generously gave money to support this great cause, everyone here at Cavallaro could not be prouder of our students!
