All students must complete 4 years of Mathematics. Regents exams are generally taken at the student's third year. Freshmen must pass the Math A Regents or Intergrated Algebra Regents for a Regents Diploma and either: -Both Math A and Math B for an Advenced Regents Diploma -OR Intergrated Algebra AND Geometry AND Trigonometry Regents.Math A: (Foundational Algebra 1, 2 and Geometry 1) This is a three-semester course, which includes the foundations of algebra coupled with an introduction to geometry. Integrated Algebra: This course is an in-depth study of algebraic principles, conceptual understanding, procedural fluency and problem solving. This is the first course of the new NYS High School Mathematics Regents sequence. This 2-semester coourse culiminates ina Regents Exam.Math B: (Geometry 2, Intermediate Algebra and Trigonometry) This is a three semester course in which students learn how to construct geometric proofs and logic proofs. Students also further develop their skills in algebra and are introduced to key concepts in the following areas: trigonometry; logarithms; probability, and statistics. Pre-Calculus: This course includes a detailed study of functions (graphically and algebraically). Students also study in detail: analytic geometry; sequences and series; probability; systems of equations; matrices and statistics. Students are expected to become proficient in the use of the graphing calculator. AP Calculus AB: This is a branch of mathematics involving derivatives and integrals. In addition, the study of motion in which changing values are studied. This is a 2-semester course which culminates in taking the AP exam.Students should consult with their Mathematics teacher for tutoring schedules.
