Parent's Assosication

Parents and legally appointed guardians or persons in parental relation to students currently attending R.F.Wagner Jr. SSAT are automatically members of the Parents’ Association.

Objectives of the Association are:

1. To provide support and resources to the school for the benefit and educational growth of the children

2. To promote and help develop a cooperative working relationship between the parents and staff of the school

3. To develop parent leadership and build capacity for greater involvement

4. To foster and encourage parent participation on all levels

5. To provide opportunities and training for parents to participate in school

governance and decision-making.

The Association meets monthly.

The Executive Board consists of President, Recording Secretary and Treasurer.

School Leadership Team

The responsibilities of the School Leadership Team are to create the school’s Comprehensive Educational Plan (CEP), including annual goals and objectives, and to consult with the principal in developing a school-based budget and staffing plan aligned with the CEP. Each team is also responsible for assisting with the evaluation and assessment of its school’s educational programs and their effect on student achievement and establishing, with the entire school community, an effective environment where all children can learn and achieve to their full potential.

The team is made up of administrators, parents, teachers, school staff and students.

Core members include the principal, PA president and UFT Chapter leader.There must be a minimum of ten and a maximum of fourteen members. The number of parents and staff must be balanced. Parents are nominated and elected to the team in September. Staff members are nominated and elected in February. Students are nominated in September and are elected in October. The team meets once a month.

Title 1 Parent Advisory Council

As a Schoolwide Title 1 School, funds are coordinated with other funds to improve and support the overall academic performance of all children in the school. The Title 1 Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is a group of elected representative parents who are the voice of the parent body. The PAC meets and gives feedback to the SLT on the needs of the students and sees that the needs are incorporated into the CEP. The PAC will also determine how to use at least 1% of the funds for parental involvement. The PAC meets once a month.
