Korean Artist

The Korean Society invited Mrs. Park, a Korean artist, to visit P.S. 26 and she worked with class 3/4/5 – 319, class 3-302 and class 2-233.  Mrs. Loughlin and class 3/4/5 – 319 shared their experience working with Mrs. Park.  During our visit with Mrs. Park, we learned about bamboo in the Asian culture.  Bamboo is a plant, commonly grown in Asia .  It is a type of grass with a hard, woody hollow stem.  Bamboo has been considered to be a symbol of good fortune in Asian cultures for over 4,000 years.  The joined stems of bamboo symbolizes the path towards a long, healthy, successful life.  As a tradition, people gather together to celebrate life, happiness and the beauty of nature.  We made beautiful bamboo paintings.  If you would like to see our drawings, they are displayed on the third floor outside of room 320
