Speech Therapy Our role as speech therapists at PS 63 is to work with children who have difficulty with speech and/or language skills. Our population is comprised of students who have an IEP (Individualized Education Plan) as well as students who are placed in a short term At Risk Program. Students with an IEP have specific speech goals that we work on in conjunction with the classroom teacher. Common speech and language issues that we work on include the following: articulation, phonemic awareness, apraxia, fluency and pragmatics. The major area we work on is Receptive and Expressive Language. Our goal as speech therapists at PS 63 is to help our students increase language development as well as help them achieve academic excellence.
