    P.S. 63 Q features a wide array of technological resources and programs to help students achieve in the 21st century.

    The school is equipped with a Mac based computer lab that features 32 eMac computers running OS 10.4.11 and greater. The lab also has a scanner, color and black and white laser printers, digital video and still cameras.  The lab is also equipped with a SmartBoard. The entire lab is networked with Internet access and full wireless G Internet access.

    In addition to the lab, the school features multiple laptop carts and printers also running Mac OS 10.5 or greater. Every classroom has at least two Macintosh computers and full Internet access combined with a full spectrum of programs for the students to create and consume digital media and information.

    Programs

    P.S. 63 offers computer classes to all grades K-5.

    From an early age, students learn to use their computers to create dynamic multimedia projects based on interdisciplinary assignments. They learn to use the computer as a tool to consume information, organize data,transfer information, create and publish work in all forms of media.  Students learn to become highly proficient in the use of web browsers, the MS Office suite of publishing programs, iMovie, Garageband, Photoshop, iPhoto, Mac OS X, The Print Shop, KidsPix Deluxe, and Scratch.

    For 5th grade students, there is also a Lego NXT Robotics program where students learn to design and engineer fully functioning robots. They learn to design, build, and program their robots using NXTsoftware. Students have the opportunity to apply mathematics skills that they learn in class to solve real world problems.
