ADMISSION POLICY

Dear Prospective Parents,

Goldie Maple Academy is a choice elementary school in District 27. In accordance with our philosophy, our school is seeking students who are motivated to commit themselves to achieve academically and to be well rounded socially.

Parents of prekindergarten children must follow the guidelines established by the Department of Education for admission. The prekindergarten application process will begin shortly. Please continue to check the website for updates.

Guidelines for kindergarten admission must:

· Be 5 years of age by December 31

  • Be administered a kindergarten readiness assessment
  • Have a report/evaluation from the pre-school teacher (if applicable)
  • Provide current immunization records
  • Complete Goldie Maple Academy application

Students seeking admission in Grade 1 must:

  • Be 6 years of age by August 31
  • Be administered a developmental readiness assessment
  • Have a report card from the kindergarten and/or a report from the kindergarten teacher.
  • Have the principal of the current school complete and return the Goldie Maple Academy Application.
  • Be in good standing regarding attendance, behavior and academic performance*

Students seeking admission in Grades 2 - 8 must:

  • Produce a current report card having no grade lower than a 2 in all areas;
  • Produce a copy of standardized test scores with no percentile rank lower than the level 2 for grades 3 & 4. Students entering grade 5 and 6 need to score level 3 or 4 on the science and social studies NYS Assessment respectively.
  • Be administered a grade-level readiness assessment.
  • Have the principal of the current school complete and return the application form for the upcoming school year.
  • Provide current immunization records
  • Be in good standing regarding attendance, behavior and academic performance*

* All students entering grades K – 8th grade are required to provide ATS reports (RISA ,RHSP, SPEA and HDSP ). To be in good standing at Goldie Maple Academy, all entering kindergarten-sixth grade students must have achieved at least:

  • Level 2 on State ELA and Math exams for grades 3-8
  • ECLAS-2 score on grade level or above for grades K- 2
  • Attendance rate of at least 95% for the school year and no lateness issues(more that ten per year or five per month)
  • No record of behavioral issues such as teacher removals and/or suspensions

All applications will be reviewed carefully. Submission of an application does not guarantee that your child will be interviewed. Goldie Maple Academy admits students who qualify for admission without discrimination of gender, race or cultural background. Because each student has to complete an application and go through interview process, we do not add weight to an application if a sibling is/has been previously accepted into our program. Goldie Maple Academy is an application school. Parents must complete an application to have your child(ren) admitted. We are also a uniform school. All students are dressed for school daily. Our school policy states that parents of students arriving at school without their uniform will be called. They can either come to school with a change of clothes or the school will change the child's clothes and put on a school uniform for the day.
