GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT

The Guidance Department at QSCD is a comprehensive service department consisting of six Guidance Counselors, a bilingual Social Worker, and a School Psychologist.  In addition to related service counseling, we provide crisis intervention and coordination of school staff with families, caretakers, and agencies.  We collaborate with staff, administration, families, and agencies to help promote success in out students.
Some of the other services and tools that we provide to enhance support to both students and staff are Conflict Resolution, Behavior Intervention Plans, Pupil/Personnel Team Meetings, Life Space Crisis Intervention, SMART (the school-wide positive behavior incentive and support program).
We are also deeply involved with he QSCD Work Study Program which prepares students for later employment.  In addition, we assist and support our students through the Transition Center program which prepares them for jobs in fields such as building maintenance and teacher aide.  The Guidance Department also assists families in preparing for the VESID process (the NYS Vocational Program).
